Fairhope Birth Photographer

I vividly remember the first time I ever saw a birth. It was not in person. I was just flipping the channels one sunny afternoon. I had never in my life seen it happen and before I knew it, there I was, watching “A Baby Story” on TLC, my mouth (and eyes) literally wide open in horror. I was in that train-wreck state, you know where you want to look away but you can’t. It was happening and I was watching. Terrified.
And then the most amazing thing happened.
At the last push as the baby was entering the world, the mom reached longingly for her child and immediately pressed it against her exhausted chest. And I? Well I burst into uncontrollable tears.
I never forgot that moment, the overwhelming emotion I felt while simply watching a birth on an old school reality show. And now I type this as a mother of one precious girl who, at her birth, I too held so tightly to my chest in joy, whispering her name over and over, telling her mommy was here. One of the most cherished items in our house is the album of photographs that documents her birthday. (I thank my talented friend Aimee Reynolds for those.) Never did I think I’d ever have the chance to capture those priceless moments for someone else. But then Katie was having a baby girl, and after shooting portraits for her along with her most recent maternity shoot, she and her husband graciously trusted me to be present when sweet Caroline was born. These are a few of the many, many images taken that day. What an amazing and truly wonder-filled opportunity this was. Thank you, Katie. Thank you so much. I hope you love your photos. Congratulations on your perfect baby girl!

Mobile Engagement Photographer

This session was ended with wet eyes. Not from anything sad of course! But from those wistful, misty tears that well up and just kinda puddle in your eyes when you are just so glad for someone’s happiness. I don’t know how long at this point that I’ve known this beautiful bride-to-be. We met through her sister who is one of my dearest friends. It was right after college and I had taken a new job at a software company. Looking back, I sure am glad I got that job! It wasn’t exactly my dream job. No pursuit of my passion. Basically just a ton of paperwork and sitting in front of the computer! (Although maybe that computer time prepared me for the hours and hours of marathon editing sessions ahead!) But I find it so amazing to see how God opens doors of opportunity in our lives. Not only did I make several lifelong friendships like this one because of that job, but I got to travel the world! And on one of those trips, I met the man who would become my husband and father to my precious baby! You just never know what blessing are in store! I am so excited to see what lies ahead for this couple. They are just starting out on a journey that will be truly amazing. And I hope to have a front row seat to all that goodness and have many more moments of those happy tears. Love you, Laurie!

Love this ring shot with that sweet, happy kiss in the background!

You know it wouldn’t be an October engagement session without sunsets and silhouettes!

Honeymoon Photo Shoot | Orange Beach Photographer

Ok y’all. This session…
It was SO. MUCH. FUN! Sarah contacted me through my boudoir website saying that she was interested in couples boudoir. She would be getting married in the coming weeks and they would be honeymooning in Orange Beach, Alabama. Now let’s stop right there. If you aren’t from around here or maybe just haven’t had the chance to visit, let me go ahead and brag about our beaches. They are paradise!! We have sugary-white soft sand, warm salty water, and as you will see below, absolutely INCREDIBLE sunsets! Especially in October. Oh my word. I could just camp out on the beach for the whole month soaking in the autumn light that splashes across the waves and creates such magnificent displays of spectacular color in the skies every evening. But, right, this post isn’t about our awesome beaches (that you should visit without delay). It’s about some serious love between two super sweet newlyweds who allowed me to spend an afternoon with them capturing this once in a lifetime moment in their relationship. Now, I am always hesitant about “couples boudoir.” I mean, let’s be real, that term can describe a range of, ahem… let’s just say a range of different types of imagery that yours truly is neither comfortable with nor willing to create. But Sarah sent me a few sample images from ol’ faithful Pinterest and the moment I saw them, I knew we were a match made in beachy boudoir heaven. She wanted romantic, beautiful images that really captured the emotional connection between husband and wife. I was thrilled and honored to document just a sliver of this time in their lives. It’s just straight up fun to be around a newlywed couple, especially when they are as nice and welcoming as Sarah + Caleb. I loved capturing this time, basically the first paragraph in chapter one of an incredible journey ahead. So enjoy my take on couples boudoir!

A big shoutout and thank you goes to Danene Bottiaux who totally enhanced Sarah’s natural beauty with the perfect makeup by MaryKay! And another to Caleb- you rocked this. Thank you Sarah & Caleb for the chance to make these for you!
